Types of prostration in Islam and their explanations in surabaya

Where the prostration in question is prostration outside of prayer (prostration in addition to the pillars of prayer).

The kinds of prostration are 1. Prostrate of Thanksgiving, 2. Prostration of Sahwi, and 3. Prostration of Recitation. Well, let's discuss the three types of prostration.

Types of prostration in Islam

1. Thanksgiving

Understanding Prostrations of Gratitude

Prostration of gratitude is the prostration performed by someone when someone gets a great gift or pleasure from Allah SWT, or can avoid a danger that will befall him. The prostration of gratitude is performed outside the prayer once in prostration. Prostrations of gratitude can be done anywhere, provided that the place is holy/clean.

The Law of Thanksgiving

The law of prostration of gratitude is sunnah, that is, if you do it, you will get a reward, if you don't do it, it's okay.

Procedure for prostration of gratitude

The procedure for performing the prostration of gratitude is as follows:

1. Pure from major and minor hadas, and also from unclean.

2. Covering the whole aurat and facing the Qiblah.

3. Intention to prostrate gratitude.

4. Read takbir.

5. Perform prostration once by reading the prayer of prostration of gratitude as follows:

لِلَّذِى لَقَهُ لِهِ ا اللهُ اَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِيْنَ

Sajada wajhi lillazi kholaqahu washowwarahu wasyaqqa sam'ahu wabashorahu bi haulihi wa quwwatihi fatabaarakallaahu ahsanul kholiqina.

“I prostrate my face to the one who created it, shape its appearance, and open hearing and sight. Glory be to Allah, the best of Creators."

6. Sit down and say hello to the right and left.

2. Prostrate Sahwi

Definition of Sujud Sahwi

Sahwi prostration is a prostration that is done when someone is praying and then something is forgotten in the prayer, so that there is a shortage, excess or there is doubt.

Examples of Reasons for Performing Prostration Sahwi

1. Forgetting or doubting the number of rak'ahs being performed during prayer.

2. Forgetting to do sunnah ab'adh tasyahud or tahiyyatul early

3. Forgot to read the qunut prayer (for someone who believes in it)

4. Forgetting to place the prayer readings (rukun qauli) that are not in their place. Such as: reading Surah al-Fatihah when in a prostration position)

5. Forgetting to do the number of prayer movements (rukun fi'li) so that it becomes less or excessive in doing so. For example: bowing is done twice, prostration is done only once.

The law of prostration of Sahwi is sunnah muakkad (highly recommended sunnah).

Procedure for prostration of sahwi

The procedure for performing prostration of sahwi is as follows:

1. After reading the final tahiyyat, do not greet first, prostrate again by reciting takbir.

2. Followed by reading tasbih, as follows:

انَ لَا امُ لَا

(Subhaana man laa yanaamu wa laa yashuu)

"Glory be to Allah, the One Who does not sleep and the One Who does not forget"

3. Then takbir to sit back while reading the prayer sitting between two prostrations

4. Then prostrate again, and read the reading as was done with the first prostration of sahwi

5. Then sit back, followed by greetings

3. Prostrate Recitations

Understanding Prostrate Recitations

Prostration of recitation is a one-time prostration that is done when reading or listening to the verses of sajdah in the Qur'an, both in prayer and outside prayer.

The law of prostration of recitation is the sunnah of muakkad (a highly recommended sunnah).

In the Qur'anic manuscripts, these sajdah verses can usually be identified by the presence of certain signs such as writing the word as-sajdah in Arabic writing on the edge of the page in line with the verse, or the presence of a small dome-like image at the end of the verse.

Procedure for prostration of recitations

a. Prostration of recitation in prayer

"When in prayer reading or sajdah verses, then immediately prostrate 1 time by reading the prostration recitation prayer. Then return to its original position and continue reading the prayer."

b. Prostration of recitations outside of prayer

"When hearing or reading the sajdah verse, (make sure you are not impure and not unclean by performing ablution and purifying the najis), then the intention is in your heart, taking takbir, then prostration, after that you get up from prostration by reciting takbir then resume reading if there is still any .

Reading the prayer of prostration of recitations

Prayers that are read when we do prostration recitations are as follows:

لِلَّذِى لَقَهُ لِهِ ا اللهُ اَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِيْنَ.

Sajada wajhi lillazi kholaqahu wa showwarahu wa syaqqa sam'ahu wa bashorahu bi haulihi wa quwwatihi fatabarakallahu ahsanul kholiqina.
